The Cover
Immunostaining of membrane type 5 matrix metalloproteinase (MT5-MMP) that is expressed in neuronal cells of mouse dorsal root ganglia. MT5-MMP, detected with Alexa488-conjugated antisera, is in the cell body and the growing neurite, including the edge of growth cone.
Note the intense signals along withthe veil-rich regions and filopodia at the leading edge, which is important for growth cone invasion and neurite extension. Neurofilamet is also visualized by Cy3-conjugated antibody. For details, see the article by Hayashita-Kinoh et al. in this issue.
